J. Crew YYC Media Launch
After much excitement and anticipation, the first J.Crew location opened up in Chinook Centre on June 5th, 2013 to Calgarians and so far, it has been very well received.
Last Tuesday afternoon, Tom Mora ( Head of Women's Design) hosted an intimate and personal store tour to select local bloggers in the city to check out the new store and introduce us to some of the new pieces from their summer collection. Tom was very warm, charming, well dressed and very handsome might I add.

J. Crew's summer collection stayed true to the typical J. Crew look of layers and casual pieces with pops of color. During the tour, Tom talked about the inspiration for the summer collection coming from his time life books from when his was growing up, filled with beautiful photos of nature and vivid colors. He also mentioned that the collection was about a woman who travels to amazing hot places and brings back bits and pieces of things that she find on her trip and is able to put all the looks together in a way that still feels classic and chic with a bit of an ethnic vibe.
Tom described the J. Crew woman as being smart, savvy doesn't take herself too seriously and has a bit of a whimsy look to her style. He also said that she has a good understanding of quality, which is very important to the iconic brand.
Tom talked about some must-haves for summer from the collection and gave some recommendations as to what pieces to get, such as the embroided tops, graphic tees and a nice tailored blazer from the collection. He also mentioned that a great statement coat is very important for fall as well as pants in graphic patterns.
J. Crew's layered and denim style definitely fits the vibe and look of most Calgarians and is definitely a great addition to the city. I had an amazing time speaking to Tom Mora and can't wait to stop by for more shopping at the new J. Crew location in Chinook Centre in the near future.
