Sled Island Music & Arts Festival 2013

I was first introduced to Sled Island Music & Arts Festival last summer by my good friend, Phil when he randomly invited me to a block party in East Village for a live band performance and I have been hooked ever since. I was intrigued by the unique fashions( a mix of hipster meets rock) of the attendees and the positive vibes from everyone. Sled Island Music & Arts Festival was born in 2007 by Zak Pashak. Inspired by Pop Montreal, Zak felt that Calgary was the perfect place to host such an event due to the wide variety of artistic venues in the city and from that, Sled Island was born.

The goal of Sled Island is to step past barriers that can exists among different fans of different music, different age group and different businesses and give them a place to hear and share experiences with eachother with music as the common factor. This 5 day music and art festival will feature over 250 bands plus comedy, film and art in 30 venues all around city.

I'll be at the Block Party in East Village tomorrow and can't wait to check out Keys N Krates. I will also be checking out shows throughout the week at Hi-FiCommonwealth, Bamboo and  Broken City .... Can't wait!  Also, Market Collective has partnered with Sled Island to run a market during the block party and one of my favorite local designers, Coutukitsch will  be there displaying their unique handmade jewelry, so I encourage you all to stop by and check them out.

You can check the line-up for the event HERE, and see what bands are performing and at what locations. Passes for the event can also be purchased HERE

Keep up on and participate in all the Sled Island action! Follow Sled Island on Facebook, @sledisland on Twitter and Instagram and now on Vine! Connect with the others around the fest using #sledisland to share what's going on.

Have a fun and safe week !
