Wedding Wednesday: Calgary Wedding Fair 2016
( Dress from Novia Bridal Boutique)It's no secret I recently got engaged to the love of my life. After months of being engaged, we have finally set a date. With the wedding a little over 6 months away, I have gone into full wedding planning mode, but not YET a bridezilla. With all the planning that goes into a wedding I now understand why brides go crazy in the time leading up to it. There are lots of details and stress involved in the planning process that can drive even the most sane person crazy.
This past weekend, I had the pleasure of attending the Calgary Wedding Fair at the BMO center with two of my close friends who also happen to be engaged. With over 300 vendors specializing in everything wedding related like; decor, cake, transportation, invitations, wedding planning, photography, food , venue and many more, it was the perfect place to get inspired and a one stop shop to make contact for brides who don't know where to start.
Arrive at your wedding ceremony in style in this 1950's Bentley instead of the traditional limo service. A unique and elegant touch to add to your wedding. It cost just as much as a limo, but you get it for less hours. Perfect for the couple like myself who wants to make a statement.
Red Events had perhaps the best set-up at the show. It was elegant, well detailed and it also happened to be in my wedding colors ( gold) so I instantly fell in love. It wasn't surprising that they won best booth set-up at the end of the night.
By the end of the day I was overwhelmed, tired and ready to call it a day. I would highly recommend the wedding fair for brides who want to plan their wedding as well as get inspiration. After attending the wedding show with two other brides, I have a few tips on how to get the most out of the day and survive the stress of it

Wedding Fair Survival Tips
- Look up the vendors and floor map ahead of time so you can plan out which booths are priority to hit up first. I found it overwhelming with over 300 booths and it's almost impossible to check out every single person.
-Wear comfortable shoes and clothing. My feet started to hurt in simple flats after 2 hours of walking around and I was sweating alot with 5,000 people around me with a scarf around my neck.
-Carry a light bag or no bag at all as you will be given a shopping tote at the entrance. I found my bag and all the info I was collecting started to accumulate and get heavy.
- Check your jacket or leave it in the car.
- Carry a bottle of water and pack a snack. You'll get hungry from all the talking. and walking around.
I am super excited for the big day and can't wait to share wedding planning tips, inspiration and my journey to planning my big day every Wednesday from now until the wedding.
